Founded in 1960 by polio vaccine developer Dr. Jonas Salk and designed by architect Louis Kahn, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies is an independent, non-profit, preeminent scientific research institute in La Jolla, California. Its internationally renowned scientists pursue transformative discoveries in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, immunology, and plant biology to address cancer, aging, Alzheimer's, and other global health challenges.
